Based out of the south coast, surf-rock Duo The Leaning share new cut 'Stranger'.
Psych-noise and surf-pop, two of the many genres linked to Brighton's The Leaning. The duo's music pays homage to the modern romantic songwriters and the eerie dawn of synth music.
Led by Sam Jordan, an ex-ballet dancer, and Ez Stone, a tattoo artist, the pair met while digging a hole during a long summer of manual labour. Sam, with a focus on lyrics and songs, and Ez, an emotive guitarist and arranger, set out recording music at Sam's flat perched on the edge of Portslade Harbour.
A subtle nod to 80's pioneers such as Echo & The Bumneymen and The Cure, The Leaning's new single ‘Stranger’ starts with a psycho-geographic journey through the under-belly of gothic synth pop, before lending itself to a more romanticised hook of the chorus - a reserved yet powerful delivery.
With an EP on its way this summer, The Leaning announce a London headline show at Dream Bags Jaguar Shows (15th August).
